I was born and raised in Santa Barbara and feel it as home in my heart. Northern California, Washington and Austria are also places I’ve called home, but each ended with a return to Santa Barbara, grateful for the roots of my family, bounty of the community and beauty of the land. It was in Santa Barbara that I completed a 3 year intensive training in pre and perinatal psychology, and first became excited about supporting kids and families. The training I experienced in a clinical setting helping families resolve early trauma and nurture secure attachment was incredibly rewarding, but I began to imagine a different kind of application for the work done in sessions. I wondered, what would happen if therapeutic principles and interventions were customized for use in classrooms? What if relationships became the fourth fundamental R of education? What would a classroom that prioritized developing social-emotional skills in children look like? Thus my passion for relational education was born.
In the past 20 years I’ve created and facilitated several relationally rooted programs for kids including, Discoveries Preschool & Kindergarten, Conscious Kids Preschool, Conscious Kids Homeschool, and Character Circles for Girls. Along the way I earned a BA specializing in child developmental psychology, an MA in clinical psychology with a specialty in somatics, completed a 3 year intensive training with The Three Fold Way, and opened Rising Resilience, an attachment based private practice providing relational support for children, families & individuals. These days, along with running Conscious Kids and Rising Resilience, I am also part of the team at True North, a self directed learning community that supports kids to play, grow and learn from the inside out.
I’m here to support you through meaningful growth and change.
